Guanatos Grub started with one home cook's conviction that Houston deserved the real flavors of Guadalajara — made from scratch, no shortcuts. Founder Araceli Yarborough opened her doors in April 2023, and the city hasn't stopped talking since.

Araceli's Kitchen, Now Open to Houston

Araceli Yarborough cooked the way her grandmother taught her — with patience and the best ingredients she could find. When she opened Guanatos Grub on JFK Boulevard in April 2023, she was finally sharing what she'd always made at home.

No Shortcuts in the Kitchen

Every salsa is simmered fresh, every tortilla is made by hand, and the mole is built from over 35 ingredients. Araceli knows the difference — and so do you.

The Dish That Defines Us

The torta ahogada is made with bolillo bread imported directly from Guadalajara — the one ingredient you simply cannot fake. Drowned in house-made sauce and topped with pickled onions, it tastes exactly like the real thing.

A Cantina for Everyone

On any given night, airline crews on layover, Houston families, and international travelers all find their way here — drawn together under the GUADALAJARA neon sign. Live music, karaoke, and 80s and 90s hits keep the energy exactly right.

Noticed, and Just Getting Started

Less than two years in, Guanatos Grub was featured on Hulu's Talking Sabor alongside celebrity Chef Aarón Sánchez and named a local favorite by Eater. The recognition is meaningful — but it hasn't changed a thing about how Araceli cooks.
